Elena Ramona musician

Recently I had the pleasure of working with two very talented creatives.
The beautiful Elena Ramona -singer, songwriter, model
and Andrew Boschier – a friendly and very helpful local photographer
We used a venue in Bisley as studio where the setting was perfect to get the makeup done with lots of natural light and the an other huge room to set up the studio.
I was lucky enough to have a meatiness with Elena and Andy before the shoot so I could plan the makeup personalised for Elena beforehand.
We did 3 looks altogether. Started off with very natural seamless makeup. This is a perfect look for a portfolio to show clients what they have to work with.
After this we went for slightly smokey eye – more of an evening look and a red lip. Elena was worried about the red lip as she thought red doesn’t suit her. I explained that there are many shades of red and we found the right shade for her which made her look fabulous!
And last but not least I applied glitter! I love glitter and was very much looking forward to this part. Glitter gave Elena a bit of sparkle on the outside to reflect her personality.
I am looking forward to working with her again soon!

I had the opportunity to work alongside two brilliant people the other day.

Shaun Hodge, the photographer and Jade Sakura model.

I had a beautiful, custom made headpiece by the talented designer Rosadior to use for this shoot. It was brilliantly made! We came up with a few looks and had created some amazing shots. I have a few behind the scenes photos to share with you. Mainly of our little helpers: my daughter and Shaun’s dogs. 🙂

Bride’s to do list

-For a more beautiful, confident you on your wedding day

There is a few things that are important to do before your wedding day. These tips will help you stay confident on the big day. They certainly made me feel better about being the centre of everyone’s attention

So, here they are:

6 months:

Drink water: We all know that drinking water is the key to clear skin. To make sure your skin is glowing and your eyes sparkle on your big day, try to drink at least eight glasses of water every day.

Make time for a skincare routine: start a new beauty regime by finding the right products for you and stick with it. If you’re unsure of what is best for you, why not try a variety of brands – ask for samples at the department stores. The beauty advisors there can usually give you advice on what could suit your skin

Find a makeup artist: Most brides tell me that their nerves take over on the day and not having to do their own makeup makes them more relaxed. Also a shaky hand might make application a challenge. Search for a make-up artist who you feel will meet your expectations.

Body routine: I wanted to make sure on my wedding day that the flesh on display is silky smooth. Buy a gentle body scrub and exfoliate from top-to-toe twice a week. After your shower or bath be meticulous about rubbing your body moisturiser all over
Eat healthier: try staying away from sugar, lots of sodium and processed foods. These all lead to belly fat and bloating. Instead, focus on the fresh stuff –fruit and veg – all great for keeping away food cravings and don’t drink too much alcohol as it makes your skin puffy and dry

3 months:

Think ahead! Book your appointments well ahead! Don’t get caught short finding that all manicurists and beauticians are booked up before your big day: manicure is vital – you will have pictures taken of the ring on your finger and people will look at your hand a lot – have nice hands and nails!

Get your teeth checked and get a hygienist appointment so you have a whiter more beautiful smile

Book a course of facials: If you aren’t a regular on the facial front, then book up a few leading up to your wedding day. Just one tends to bring more blemishes out…Given enough time, facials will keep skin deeply cleansed so that breakouts are less likely nearer the time. Have the last facial a couple of weeks before the wedding day to make sure your skin has enough time to recover.

2 months:

Have the chosen spray tan. Don’t just have your first tan before the wedding. It could go really wrong. Too light, too dark, or worse: orange… (Unless that’s the look you are going for)

Find a scent: everyone will want to congratulate you on the day, so you need to make sure your scent fits the occasion. Spend time finding the right perfume and think about how it will combine with any scent from your bouquet. Also you will remember it for the rest of your life! Make sure it’s one that makes you feel special!

6 weeks – 8 weeks

Have your make-up trial with your chosen make-up artist. Take along any accessories like tiara, have some pictures of the look you want ready and wear a white top to give you the best idea on how it will look on the day. You could even take photos of the finished look to make sure you are happy with it.

1 month:

Have your brows shaped. It is the best time to go to a specialist if you haven’t before so they can advise on the best shape for your features.

Exfoliate and moisturise your lips every night. You can use a muslin cloth to rub them gently or an old toothbrush can do the job, too. Use lip balm or Vaseline to moisturise.

2 weeks:

Get your hair cut and coloured to make sure the style and colour is perfect. This way you have time to adjust it if you feel the need.

By now you should have everything planned and organised so in the last few days try to get lots of rest. If you need a little help you can try essential oils to help you sleep and relax. It is time to let your makeup artist and hair stylist take control and pamper you.

Enjoy and have fun!

Why hire a makeup artist for your wedding day

Every bride wants to look their best on their wedding day! Hiring a professional makeup artist to do your makeup ensures just that. Having a good makeup artist on the day is just as important as having a good photographer!

If you need more reasons then let me tell you a few:

Stress free on your wedding day

When a professional makeup artist does your makeup on the wedding day it will be done well. You will not need to worry about it. You can relax and be pampered. It will give you a chance to sit down on a day that will surely be manic.

Quality products

A makeup artists kit is stocked with tried and tested products. These have been tried in front of camera and also on other brides so they will stay on all day. This added to the professional application will ensure the best look for you all day.

Pro tips and tricks

Makeup artist were trained in enhancing your best features and making you look your best with little ‘tricks’ and also to look your best on camera too. They will also make it last all day.

Colour selection

A makeup artist studied (and practiced) to find the right colour tones for you in foundation, lipstick and all the way through to eye shadow colour. They will also make sure that you don’t look like you are wearing a mask due to a different colour on your neck…

So… will you be hiring a makeup artist for your most memorable day of your life?

If your answer is YES, don’t forget to look around and research. You get what you pay for, so I would advise you not to look for a cheap deal as it might be disappointing. You want someone who has a style you can relate to. Have a trial with them 6-8 weeks before the wedding so you work out what you want to look like on your wedding day. Once agreed you can just focus on the rest of the preparations. Enjoy!
